There are three main requirements to run Aestiva Travel and Expense:
1. You need a copy of Aestiva HTML/OS for your server
1. (HTML/OS runtime edition is included with purchase)
2. You need a Web server account.
3. You need an active cgi-bin in the account.
Aestiva HTML/OS runs on in-house servers, shared hosting accounts,
and co-located servers. Requirements for operating on intranets, shared accounts, and co-located (dedicated) servers are described below.

OPERATING AESTIVA TRAVEL AND EXPENSE ON INTRANETS
|
If you are running your own computers (Linux, MacOS X, Windows NT/2000/2003, etc) then you can run Aestiva Travel and Expense.
You will need a Web server. Use any CGI 1.1 compliant Web server (such as Apache, or IIS). Once your Web server is set up you can install Aestiva HTML/OS, the engine that runs Aestiva Travel and Expense. No database engine is needed since Aestiva HTML/OS includes a maintenance-free, high-performance
database engine. Once HTML/OS is installed other components are
added using the browser-interface built into HTML/OS.
No additional software or hardware is needed. No additional RAM is needed.

|
OPERATING AESTIVA TRAVEL AND EXPENSE ON SHARED ACCOUNTS |
If you wish to run Aestiva Travel and Expense on a shared account at a hosting provider that provides CGI access, then you can run it.
WARNING: SOME HOSTING PROVIDERS WHO ADVERTISE CGI ACCESS DON'T ALLOW BINARY PROGRAMS TO RUN OUT OF THEIR CGI-BIN FOLDERS. THE COMMON GATEWAY INTERFACE (CGI) IS THE WEB STANDARD FOR RUNNING BINARY PROGRAMS SO THIS IS FALSE
ADVERTISING, BUT IT DOES OCCUR. IF YOU ARE UNSURE WHETHER YOUR HOST
PROVIDES CGI ACCESS, FEEL FREE TO HAVE AESTIVA ASK FOR YOU.
Installing Aestiva HTML/OS does not require any server configuration and in general, no communication or support from your server administrator or hosting provider.
|
The HTML/OS engine can operate with as little as twenty (20) Megabytes of RAM. Virtual hosting accounts rarely place limits below this level so if you are operating at a virtual hosting account, it is unlikely you will run into RAM limitation problems.
Recommended minimum RAM on a stand-alone server is 500 Megabytes.
|
We recommend you operate in accounts with at least 100 Megabytes of space.
|
Aestiva HTML/OS has built-in cgiwrap to protect hosting providers, built-in security so users of Aestiva Travel and Expense cannot access other parts of the web server, and low CPU overhead to ensure CPU resources are not overused.
|
|
OPERATING AESTIVA TRAVEL AND EXPENSE ON CO-LOCATED WEB SERVERS
|
If you are running a co-located Web server then you can operate Aestiva HTML/OS.
Most co-located Web servers come pre-installed with an active CGI 1.1 compliant web server, such as Apache or IIS. No additional software or hardware is needed. No additional RAM is needed to operate Aestiva HTML/OS.
